Mundan

Do you accommodate the family's traditional ceremony or leave a small shikha/tuft if requested?

Short answer

Yes. We respect your family's tradition. Families can request a small shikha (tuft, also called shendi) to be left, and parents can bring traditional pastes like turmeric or sandalwood. Tell us what your family does when you request the Mundan.

Leaving a shikha or tuft

Some families ask for a small tuft of hair, called a shikha or shendi, to be left, based on their tradition. You can request it, and your barber will follow your family's wishes. Tell us when you request the service so the barber knows before the day.

Traditional pastes and items

Parents may provide traditional mixtures such as turmeric or sandalwood paste. They can be applied after the shave, along with a mild oil or soothing product.

What to tell us when you request

  • The date and place: home, temple, venue or shop
  • Whether you want a shikha or tuft left
  • Whether your family prefers a traditional razor or clippers
  • Any traditional items you will bring

Respect for tradition

Mundan, also called Chudakarana, is a meaningful milestone. We approach it with respect for your family's tradition, strict hygiene and a calm, controlled setup. A Mundan usually takes 30 to 40 minutes, at the child's pace.
