Individuals with certain skin conditions or health issues should avoid getting a facial. Those with active skin infections, such as herpes simplex (cold sores), bacterial or fungal infections, should refrain from facials until the infection is fully resolved to prevent spread. People with severe acne or rosacea might find facials too harsh and irritating. Those with sensitive skin or allergies to specific skincare ingredients should consult with a dermatologist before getting a facial to avoid adverse reactions. Additionally, individuals undergoing certain medical treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation, should avoid facials due to their skin’s heightened sensitivity during treatment. Pregnant women should also be cautious and consult with their healthcare provider, as some facial treatments and products may not be safe during pregnancy.
