The Vision
Dandies Barber was destined to redefine the barbershop experience. From humble beginnings in 2019, we have evolved into a thriving enterprise that blends tradition, innovation, and entrepreneurial excellence.

Our Journey
In 2019, our first location opened as Dandies Barber & Beard Stylist in a modest 350-square-foot space with just three chairs, tucked away in a hidden alley on Castro Street in Downtown Mountain View. Despite our small start, our vision was anything but small. Initially focusing on haircuts, beard grooming, and shaves, In 2022, we saw an opportunity for growth and seized it. By acquiring an adjacent space previously used by a massage therapy shop, we expanded to accommodate five additional chairs, creating a dynamic hub for our clients. These efforts earned us recognition as the first-ever barbershop and small business to win the Outstanding Small Business award from the City of Mountain View.

In 2023, Dandies took a bold step forward by acquiring another space within the same alley—an eyebrow threading salon operated by Singh’s mother for over a decade. This strategic acquisition not only grew our physical presence but also integrated a new customer base into the Dandies family. 

In January 2025, we opened another location in Campbell, California, continuing our mission to serve Silicon Valley and beyond. For those unable to visit us in person, we offer mobile services, bringing the Dandies experience directly to your door.

Today, Dandies encompasses three distinct spaces within our original alley, now recognized as Barbers Alley by the community. Dandies stands as a shining example of what dedication and vision can achieve.

About Money Singh

I grew up in a humble family in Punjab, where our lives revolved around a small 100-square-foot general store. The shop was more than just a livelihood—it was home. Between school and work, we spent nearly all our time there until we immigrated to the United States in 2006.

With a background in computer science, I started from scratch in the U.S., earning just $6 an hour while navigating a tough commute with three bus transfers each way. These early struggles fueled my determination, and in 2007, I launched my first business in transportation. Over time, I built a team of more than 15 drivers, providing them with fair wages. Many of them are still part of the journey today.

That same year, I helped my mother fulfill her dream of opening her own salon. Over the span of 10 years, I assisted her in opening three salons. This experience left a lasting impression and inspired me to establish Dandies Barber & Beard Stylist in 2019. Located next to my mother’s salon, Dandies quickly became known for its exceptional craftsmanship and strong community ties.

Although we faced significant challenges—including being shut down for an entire year and having no barbers in 2021—we managed to rebuild from scratch. After six months without a barber, we revived the shop in 2021. Within just three years, we expanded within Barbers Alley and even purchased my mother’s salon, realizing our shared family vision.

Sadly, the day my mom sold the shop to me, she was diagnosed with cancer. While she is still undergoing treatment, she continues to be my mentor and a driving force behind the growth of Dandies.

Breaking the cycle of poverty took our family 49 years. Today, we’re committed to giving back—helping our community thrive and creating sustainable career opportunities for barbers.

About Professor Joy Holland

At the helm of our educational programs is Joy Holland, our distinguished Director of Education and Learning. With a Master’s in Fine Arts and over 15 years of transformative experience, Joy brings unmatched expertise to Dandies. A former Fulbright scholar in Italy, she has a proven ability to foster innovation and drive excellence. Her visionary leadership empowers our team to continuously enhance the customer experience, positioning Dandies as a leader in quality and creativity within the barbering industry. Miss Joy is instrumental in refining our educational programs, supporting our staff, and helping the shop grow.
