The responsibility to pay for Aqiqah typically falls on the parents of the newborn, particularly the father, as he is generally considered the head of the household in Islamic tradition. However, other family members or relatives may also contribute or cover the costs, especially if the parents are unable to afford it. The Aqiqah is a recommended Sunnah, meaning it is highly encouraged but not obligatory. Therefore, if a family cannot afford to perform Aqiqah, they are not sinful for not doing so, and the ritual can be postponed until they are financially able to fulfill it.
