During a massage, several hormones are released that contribute to its relaxing and therapeutic effects. Endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, are released, helping to reduce discomfort and create a sense of well-being. Oxytocin, often called the "love hormone," is also elevated, fostering feelings of trust and emotional connection. Additionally, serotonin and dopamine, neurotransmitters associated with happiness and relaxation, are produced in greater quantities. At the same time, levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, decrease, which helps to alleviate anxiety and promote relaxation. These hormonal changes collectively contribute to the physical and emotional benefits experienced during and after a massage.
