In Islam, cutting a baby's hair, known as "Aqiqah," is a recommended but not compulsory practice. It is usually performed on the seventh day after birth, along with the ritual of sacrificing an animal and giving charity. The hair is shaved off as a symbol of cleansing and the child's introduction into the faith. While it is highly encouraged due to its religious significance and connection to the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad, it is not considered obligatory. Families can choose to perform this act based on their personal beliefs and circumstances.
