Massaging the scalp can potentially make it greasy, particularly if done with oily hands or products. The scalp naturally produces sebum, an oily substance that protects and moisturizes the skin. During a massage, the mechanical action can stimulate sebaceous glands, increasing sebum production. Additionally, if oils or creams are used during the massage, they can add to the greasiness. However, if done with clean hands and without additional products, scalp massages are less likely to cause noticeable greasiness and can actually promote healthy hair by improving blood circulation and reducing tension. Regular washing and proper hair care can mitigate any temporary greasiness caused by massage.
